Last holiday season, Total-E-Bound released my first M/M erotic romance, Tomorrow's Gifts. It was part of a series of paranormal shorts ringing changes on Charles Dickens' legendary ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. I had planned to contribute a M/F story, but then the publisher asked me if I could manage a homoerotic tale instead, in order to balance the collection.
Sure, I said. Why not? The result was a raw, emotionally charged exploration of the need for honesty in a relationship.
Michael loves his burly, powerful partner Neil, but he's too embarrassed to share his secret fantasies of submission and surrender. Frustrated and confused, he wonders whether he and Neil really belong together. Then, on Christmas Eve, Michael receives a visit from a sexy Dom, Thorne Wilder, who claims to be his lover from the future. Thorne shows Michael scenes from a wild life of sexual excess that he claims they'll share if he breaks up with Neil. Michael is forced to decide whether he should trust the ghost of Christmas future, or whether his true future lies with Neil.

Tomorrow's Gifts got a warm reception from my readers, and so I started to think about writing a longer M/M work. I also wanted to try my hand at another paranormal. I enjoy writing paranormal fiction, but I shy away from alternate worlds and imaginary races. I'm more interested in the consequences of supernatural power on our own planet.
When I was in my late teens, I was anorexic. I spent several months in the acute ward of a state psychiatric hospital. I was suffering from a sort of limited insanity when it came to food, but was still sufficiently alert to observe and interact with my fellow inmates. I came to realize that the dividing line between sanity and madness is perhaps an illusion. After all, I acted sane, rational, highly intelligent, unless someone tried to get me to eat. Furthermore, I met other brilliant and fascinating people on that ward. Who was I to label them crazy?
The germ of Necessary Madness comes from those experiences of mine, those months locked away in an institution. Kyle, one of the heroes of the book, is about the same age as I was back then. He has the power to see the future, but he can't control it. Horrible visions of disasters yet to occur haunt him day and night.
Everyone assumes that Kyle is schizophrenic, but Rob, the cop who picks him up off the street, knows better. Rob's own experience has taught him that psychic powers are real, and potentially
devastating. Since his telepathic sister's brutal murder, Rob wants nothing to do with "gifted" individuals like Kyle.
Despite Rob's fears, he's irresistibly attracted to the beautiful, tortured young man -- an attraction that is mutual. When a brilliant, sadistic practitioner of the black arts lures Kyle into his clutches, Rob faces the possibility that once again he may lose the person he loves most to the forces of darkness.

I didn't original intend Necessary Madness to be a holiday story, but as I worked on it, seasonal touches crept in. The novel begins in late November, in chilly New England, where Kyle is homeless and drunk on the dirty streets. Before I realized it, I was writing tree lighting, caroling and snowstorms. I don't think I'm giving away too much if I tell you that the book ends with a wedding on Christmas Eve.
Necessary Madness will be released just after Christmas, on December 28th. To celebrate, I'm starting a new blog on December 14th and hosting a two week Grand Opening bash.
I'll be giving away an autographed copy of one of my print titles every day to some lucky commenter, and on the 28th, I'll choose the grand prize winner, who'll receive a six-pack of my ebooks including the new title. Hi Lisabet,
Tomorrow's Gifts sounds like a great read...I'm loving the Christmas theme...I'm also a huge fan of gay erotic romances so I'm always on the look out for new titles to read. By the way, thanks for being so open about your bout with anorexia...I was bulimic for too many years to count and it's only been in the last year and a half after many years of hits and misses that I've mostly overcome my chronic need to purge.
Looking forward to reading your upcoming release.
Happy Reading

Happy Holidays.
I love the sound of both books. Holiday present to myself! Necessary Madness sounds like it's going to be one of those books that once I pick it up, I'm going to have to read until the end right then and there.
I like the sound of both your stories! Thanks for the heads up about the Christmas Bash.. it is on my calendar!
